If you're new to
rescue, and don't have a lot of experience,
but would really like to help, don't worry!
NEBCR provides training for our volunteers
in temperament testing for dog evaluations,
home visits, etc., and we always try and pair
new volunteers up with experienced "mentors"
to teach you the ropes. We also occasionally
sponsor workshops and send volunteers to seminars
on dog behavior and training.
Experience isn't required to be a NEBCR volunteer
- just enthusiasm, good humor and a willingness
to BE INVOLVED and help!
NEBCR volunteers are always available to answer
questions, and offer guidance and support. We
have volunteers that are professional trainers
and behaviorists; some that are heavily involved
in herding, dog sports, obedience, free style,
etc; and many that have an enormous amount of
experience with Border Collies as a breed, as
well as with rescue. All of us work together
to create a supportive environment where we
share information, problem solve, and work towards
a common goal - helping Border Collies in need.
NEBCR, Inc. values our volunteers highly,
and realizes that without them, there would
be no NEBCR.
If you're just looking for a place to chat
about Border Collies or be just peripherally
involved in the Border Collie community, but
aren't currently able to dedicate time and resources
to ACTIVELY volunteer, we encourage you to check
out the many BC lists out there on the web that
are better suited to what you're looking for.
NOTE: The NEBCR volunteer
list is specifically for ACTIVE volunteers,
and we reserve the right to remove inactive
people from the list at any time.
